Beef steak stifado stew served with ozro pasta and buttered green beans, turned out delicious, see yesterday’s post for marinade recipe, and follow the rest here.

Ingredients:
1 tin of plum tomatoes blende
1 tablespoon of tomato puree
1 beef stock pot or cube
1 jar of baby picked onions
1/2 pint of water
2 tablespoons of olive oil

Remove the steak from the marinade and scrape away and reserve any spices clinging to the steak.

Saute the steak in the olive oil to seal the outside

Add the onions to cook for 5 mins then add a couple of tbsp of the pickle juice.

Next add the marinade, tomatoes and tomato purée, beef stock and enough water to just cover the steak.

Bring to the boil then simmer for 1½ hours, or until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened
Season with salt and pepper.

Serve with pasta, rice or a baked potato :
