Now that a bunch of us are stuck home, now’s a good time to up your meal prep game! It’s healthier and cheaper, and tasty if you follow some of these hacks:
1. Use chicken thighs instead of breasts. They’re cheaper, taste better, and cook faster. Just be sure to trim off as much fat as you can.
2. Brown rice requires twice as much water to cook as regular rice. White rice needs a 2:1 ratio of water to rice, brown needs 4:1.
3. You can add salt and a splash of vinegar and oil to the water to help the rice cook a bit quicker and taste better.
4. When it comes to seasoning, pretty much everything can benefit from some salt and pepper at the very least. Beyond that, don’t be afraid to experiment (and let your sense of smell be your guide). 5. When it comes to seasoning and marinading, don’t forget your veggies! Depending on the veggie, adding stuff like soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, or even hot sauce can turn a veggie into a favorite part of the meal. .
